Jackie entered recovery in 2019 at 53 years old when she was looking at prison time and knew something had to change. She suffered from a lifetime of sexual, physical and emotional trauma and realized she needed to change or she was going to die from an overdose.
Jackie started her work as a Peer Recovery Coach that year and became a Housing Director and later Outreach Director/Intake Coordinator for a sober living where she worked for four years. She learned from the feedback and testimonials of the residents how naturally holding space for others in recovery came to her and how much she was able to help people. Joining HardBeauty as Housing Director to create that physical and emotional space of healing was a natural transition.
